Sometimes you have an outfit that just needs a bit of lifting up, brightening it and bringing a bit of jollification to proceedings.

Some months ago I was invited to a wedding and I noticed that many of the female guests had a light and lacey wrap to add a bit of glam to their daytime outfit - and as a knitter I felt a little embarrassed that I had nothing similar in my wardrobe.

Then I came across this fabulous Lyocell blend from West Yorkshire Spinners and couldn't wait to see how it would knit up into a soft, drapey stole.

MATERIALS

YARN: 2 x 100g West Yorkshire Spinners Solstice 4ply, 400m/437 yds per 100g. Colourway Lava. If substituting, this yarn is a blend: 70% Falkland wool, 20% Lyocell, 10% cashmere

NEEDLES: 3.5mm

Stitch markers: even if you don’t normally use them I recommend them here, at least until you get the lace panels established.

GAUGE: 20 stitches and 28 rows in 10cm/4" in stocking stitch, blocked.

SIZE: Length 69" x width 15" (175 cm x 38 cm).
